Spray Tanning FAQs

HOW DO YOU GET THE BEST RESULTS FROM YOUR SPRAYTAN?

1.Remove dead skin cells by doing a full body exfoliation. This needs to be done the night before!
2.Wax at least 24 hours before. This allows pores to close again. Shaving can be done the night before.
3.Deodorants and perfumes can prohibit the absorption of the solution, therefore these should be removed before the tan is applied or preferably not worn at all.
4.Do not use moisturisers on the day of the tan as they can act as a barrier to the solution.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN DURING THE TREATMENT?

We will explain the whole procedure to you, making sure you are comfortable with everything and know what to expect.

Barrier cream might be applied to your hands and feet and any dry areas to prevent them from tanning too much. (Depends on how dry your skin might be)

You will be directed into a private changing area where you can change into whatever you choose to wear during the spray session.

Once you are comfortable and ready, the session will start.
The spraying will take about 5-10 minutes. The spraying takes place in a private area to ensure utmost privacy and also minimum overspray. During the treatment you will see the colour on your skin. This is a guide colour for us to see whilst spraying. The tan will develop over 8 hours (max) into a gorgeous sunless tan. The guide colour will be seen washing off during your initial shower.

WHAT DO I WEAR WHILST TANNING?

We advise clients to wear dark underwear ie: a thong or bikini bottoms whilst tanning and some women choose to go topless. Men – Boxer shorts or brief to be worn.

HOW DARK WILL I GET?

There are different strengths of DHA (the active ingredient), and we will advise you of the one best suited to your skin tone, bearing in mind how dark you want to go. The darker you tan naturally, the darker you will go with a spray tan.

WHAT ABOUT STREAKING OR TURNING ORANGE?

Fake tanning has come a long way since the early days. Better solutions, machines, training and spray tan technology virtually eliminates these issues. And an added benefit is that there is no unpleasant smell.

WHAT SHOULD I DO AFTER MY TAN?
Wait at least 8 hours before showering. Showering is essential to wash off the initial bronzer, revealing the beautiful developed tan underneath.

Wear dark, loose cotton clothing during the development time of the tan. The tan may transfer slightly onto light materials, but it will wash out of most clothing. Tight clothes may also cause rub off, resulting in lighter patches on your skin. (Above mentioned applies to the initial 8 hours only)

Do not do excessive exercise and perspire during the development time.

In the days following your spraytan session, try not to take long baths or go swimming as chlorine will fade the tan quicker. Pat, do not rub yourself dry after showering or bathing, and also don’t scrub too vigorously with a washcloth or loofah. (Except if you’re trying to get rid of the tan of course)

Moisturising is the key to keeping your tan for longer, so do this EVERY DAY. A moisturizer with a tan extender (containing DHA) will help keep your tan for even longer.
